While the Toronto Blue Jays are away on a seven-game road trip, excitement at Rogers Centre has come from an unexpected source. A viral video posted on social media shows a group of unidentified daredevils who apparently gained access to the downtown dome and filmed themselves hanging high above the field.
Video Shows Risky Stunts
The 22-second clip, posted on X by RTN Toronto, captures a young person walking along a beam with the infield far below. Another individual, appearing to be a young man, is seen sitting with feet dangling, first from another person's perspective and then in a handheld shot. The video has left many viewers with shaky knees and shaking heads.
Along with the video, RTN commented: "These kids are getting too brave, this was from the Rogers Centre in Toronto."
Online Reactions
The video sparked a flurry of reactions on social media. One user replied, "Brave isn't the right word. Stupid, irresponsible. Those fit better." Another posted, "I don't think brave is the right word, this is pretty stupid. Zero reward for risking your life isn't prudent decision-making." A third user wrote, "Future Darwin Award nominees."
Many viewers expressed discomfort. One fan wrote, "I watched this while standing and now I'm on the floor." Another commented, "Nope nope nope. Can't even watch." A third added, "This makes my palms sweaty."
Police and Officials Respond
Some questioned whether the video was real or generated by AI. The Toronto Police, when contacted, could not confirm its authenticity, stating they "could not locate any calls for service or investigations in relation to a trespasser fitting the images in the video." Rogers and the Blue Jays did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays are set to conclude their seven-game trip Thursday night in the Bronx against the New York Yankees. In Wednesday's game, Trey Yesavage outdueled Cam Schlittler. Heading into Thursday's 7:05 p.m. start, which will be a bullpen day with Spencer Miles expected to handle the bulk of the workload, the Blue Jays hold a 22-27 record after going 3-3 on the trip so far.
