Yarmouth Seafest 48th Edition: Organizers Prepare for Biggest Splash

Yarmouth Seafest organizers are finalizing plans for the 48th annual festival, set to take place from July 10 to 13, 2026, along the Yarmouth waterfront. The event, a staple of Nova Scotia's summer calendar, will feature a parade, live music, a seafood chowder competition, and a fireworks display.

Expanded Programming for 2026

This year's festival includes new attractions such as a craft beer garden and a kids' zone with inflatable games. Organizers expect attendance to surpass last year's 15,000 visitors, according to festival chair Mary Smith. “We've listened to feedback and added activities for all ages,” Smith said. “This is our biggest lineup yet.”

Economic and Community Impact

The festival generates an estimated $2 million in local economic activity, benefiting restaurants, hotels, and shops. Local businesses report a 20% increase in sales during Seafest weekend. The event also highlights Yarmouth's maritime heritage, with boat tours and fishing demonstrations.

Volunteer coordinator John Doe noted that over 200 volunteers are registered, a 10% increase from 2025. “The community really comes together,” Doe said. “It's a point of pride for Yarmouth.”

Safety and Logistics

Organizers have worked with municipal authorities to ensure crowd safety, including designated parking areas and first-aid stations. Road closures will be in effect along Main Street from July 10-13. Attendees are encouraged to use shuttle services provided by the town.

Weather forecasts predict sunny skies and temperatures around 25°C, ideal for outdoor festivities. In case of rain, indoor venues have been secured for key events.

Looking Ahead

As Seafest celebrates its 48th year, planning for the 50th anniversary in 2028 is already underway. Smith hinted at special surprises for the milestone edition. “We want to make it unforgettable,” she said.
