Ottawa Police have charged a 22-year-old man with possession and accessing child sexual abuse materials following an investigation that began in May. Mattias Chicoine, a resident of Ottawa’s south end, was arrested Tuesday and appeared in court Wednesday.
Investigation Details
The Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit initiated the probe in May after receiving a report about an individual sharing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials (CSAEM) online. On Tuesday, ICE officers executed a search warrant at a residence in south Ottawa, leading to Chicoine’s arrest.
Chicoine faces two charges: possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography, as defined under the Criminal Code. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not disclosed further details about the nature or volume of the materials involved.
