Michael J. Fox honoured for advocacy and acting

Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, has been recognized for his contributions to the entertainment industry and his tireless advocacy for Parkinson's research through the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The foundation has raised over $1 billion for research, according to its website. Fox's acting career includes iconic roles in Family Ties, Spin City, and the Back to the Future trilogy.

Nickelodeon slime creator recognized

The inventor of Nickelodeon's green slime, a staple of the network's programming since the 1980s, was also appointed to the Order. The slime, originally created for the show You Can't Do That on Television, became a trademark of the channel. The recipient's name has not been disclosed by the Governor General's office at the time of publication.
