"Late Night" host Seth Meyers took aim at Fox News for its coverage of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovations, accusing the network of misleading viewers about the water's color.
Meyers Calls Out the Discrepancy
"So, the Reflecting Pool that we spent millions of dollars to make American flag blue is now puke green. Or, if you're Fox News and you're paid to pretend you're colorblind, it's actually still blue," Meyers said before airing a clip from "Jesse Watters Primetime."
Fox News Segment Draws Criticism
In the clip, Fox News producer Johnny Belisario claimed: "I'm here at the newly renovated Reflecting Pool. It's painted American flag blue, and the Democrats are gonna tell you, oh, there's green algae, it looks so bad, but there's pool guys cleaning it up right now. No other president would do that."
Meyers did not hold back, mocking the report for telling viewers to ignore what was clearly visible. "Dude, I'm gonna say to you the same thing I say whenever I'm stuck behind an old person at a traffic light, IT'S FUCKING GREEN!" he exclaimed. "We can see it right behind you. It's so green, it looks like the Ninja Turtles are about to crawl out."
Context of the Renovations
The Reflecting Pool renovation is one of several vanity projects undertaken by President Donald Trump during his second term. Shortly after the pool was refilled earlier this month, algae began to reappear. Trump administration officials have been racing to clean it up, including dumping gallons of hydrogen peroxide into the green water.
