In a blistering and expletive-laden segment this week, commentator Megyn Kelly launched a fierce counterattack against critics who have questioned her silence on the public dispute between conservative figures Candace Owens and Erika Kirk. The former Fox News host used her SiriusXM radio show on Tuesday to defend her behind-the-scenes efforts to facilitate dialogue between the two women.
"Go F*ck Yourselves": Kelly's Fiery On-Air Defense
Addressing what she called "myopically online" detractors, Kelly left no room for ambiguity regarding her feelings. She directed a sharp message to former friends she accused of trying to shame her online for not publicly commenting on the Owens-Kirk conflict. "To the hateful people whom I used to call friends who have been all over the internet trying to shame me... I don’t have any pearls of wisdom other than go fuck yourselves," Kelly stated. She emphatically claimed her critics have "no fucking clue what’s going on" behind the scenes.
Kelly argued that real-world engagement, not social media condemnation, holds potential for resolution. "Actually being able to touch grass and have relationships with them, which is something I’m doing, could prove to actually benefit all involved," she explained, dismissing the value of the "Twitter shame game."
The Roots of the Feud and a Private Meeting
The tensions between Owens and Erika Kirk have been simmering for weeks. Owens, formerly employed by the right-wing student group Turning Point USA, has recently promoted conspiracy theories regarding the September 10 assassination of the organization's founder, Charlie Kirk, who was Erika's late husband. She has also publicly questioned the motives of Erika Kirk, who was appointed CEO of Turning Point USA after Charlie's death.
This week, however, the two women announced a face-to-face meeting, which took place on Monday. According to Kelly, Erika Kirk initially reached out to her to facilitate a filmed sit-down for a future broadcast. While Owens agreed, the plan encountered "roadblocks," leading to a private, off-camera meeting instead.
Kelly's Stance and Unresolved Tensions
Kelly positioned herself as seeking understanding rather than issuing immediate condemnation. "My goal and my job here, I think, is to try to understand where Candace is coming from on this," she said. She expressed unwavering support for Turning Point USA, stating, "I love the Turning Point guys, and I don’t believe for one second any of them had anything to do with Charlie’s murder."
While Erika Kirk posted on X that her conversation with Owens was "very productive," the fallout remains uncertain. On her "Candace" podcast on Tuesday, Owens asserted she "did not recant" her suspicions about Charlie Kirk's murder. She also criticized the evidence used to charge the 22-year-old suspect, Tyler Robinson, labeling it "fake and gay." The private meeting may have opened a dialogue, but the core disagreements appear to persist.
