Pop star Maggie Rogers told thousands at a Madison Square Garden concert about her first date with a “handsome” New York Times reporter who chauffeured her around town in his vintage car, gave her a late-hours tour of the Times building and capped it with a make-out session in the conference room. But she later learned he had buried the lead: He was already attached.

Rogers, a former Grammy nominee for Best New Artist, told her good-date-gone-bad story in a mock confessional with the concert’s headliner, Rosalia, on Tuesday.
The “Alaska” singer said she and the unnamed journo kissed more in the car when he drove her home, admitting that she was “kind of falling in love a little bit.”

But as she gushed to a friend the next morning that she had “found someone,” she learned the truth.
“My friend goes, ‘Oh, my God, that’s my friend’s boyfriend!’ So, obviously, I called him, and I say, ‘Who’s this girl?’ He says, ‘Can I come see you? I’d really love to talk to you about it.’ And I said, ‘No, you can’t.’”
“That’s my confession,” she continued. “I mean, what a loser.”
Several outlets picked up on Rogers’ juicy gossip. But the paper of record will perhaps sit this one out.
