Resurfaced Video Shows Joseph Duggar Discussing Brother's Scandal Before Own Arrest

A newly resurfaced video from 2015 features reality television star Joseph Duggar speaking about his older brother Josh Duggar's sex abuse scandal. This clip emerges nearly 11 years before Joseph's own arrest on a child molestation charge, adding a disturbing layer to the family's troubled history.

Teaser for "Counting On" Series

The teaser video was originally posted in December 2015 to promote "Jill & Jessa: Counting On." This series replaced the previous Duggar family show, "19 Kids And Counting," which was canceled after revelations that Josh Duggar was investigated for allegedly sexually molesting five underage girls, some of whom were his sisters.

In the clip, Joseph Duggar expresses shock, stating, "I don't think there's any way any of us would've known that my brother's living such a secret life." This comment now appears ironic in light of recent events.

Arrest and Charges Against Joseph Duggar

The now-31-year-old Joseph Duggar was arrested in Arkansas, where he resides, on Wednesday. According to an arrest affidavit from the Bay County Sheriff's Office in Panama City, Florida, obtained by The Associated Press, he faces charges of lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under 12 years old.

Officers in Tontitown, Arkansas, informed Bay County deputies that a 14-year-old girl reported Joseph Duggar molested her multiple times during a family trip to Panama City Beach when she was 9 years old. The girl's father stated that Joseph Duggar admitted to the abuse in a private conversation this week and later during a phone call with a detective present.

Connection to Josh Duggar's Case

The allegations against Joseph Duggar surface nearly 11 years after it was revealed that his older brother Josh Duggar was under investigation for alleged sexual molestation. Although no charges were filed against Josh Duggar at the time due to the statute of limitations, he was later convicted in 2021 of downloading and possessing child pornography.

Josh Duggar is currently serving a sentence of over 12 years at the Federal Correctional Institution Seagoville in Texas. This parallel between the brothers' cases highlights ongoing concerns within the family's narrative.

The resurfaced video serves as a poignant reminder of the past, juxtaposed with the present legal troubles, underscoring the complex and troubling dynamics at play.
