Monaco's Yacht Club Launches Inaugural Yachting Student Fair for Maritime Careers
The Yacht Club de Monaco is set to host the first edition of the Yachting Student Fair on March 21, 2026. This pioneering event aims to introduce young people to diverse career opportunities in the yachting and maritime sectors, aligning with the collective 'Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting' initiative. Open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the fair welcomes middle school pupils, sixth-form students, further education attendees, and graduates, providing a unique platform to explore often overlooked professions that blend passion, technical expertise, and international prospects.
Connecting Youth with Industry Professionals
At the Yachting Student Fair, participants and their parents will have the chance to ask questions and refine career choices through direct interactions. Beyond learning about available courses, attendees can compare their aspirations with the realities of various professions, opening doors to internships, apprenticeships, and work experience opportunities. This hands-on approach ensures that young minds gain practical insights into the dynamic world of maritime industries.
Comprehensive Educational and Career Presentations
Throughout the day, training institutions, maritime organizations, yachting professionals, and researchers will showcase their programs and career prospects. Key presentations include:
- The French Maritime Academy (ENSM – École Nationale Supérieure Maritime) and Nautical Institute Academy France, offering detailed information on careers as officers and engineers.
- Lycée Jacques Dolle d’Antibes, presenting courses in nautical maintenance, electromechanics, and propulsion.
- École Nationale des Scaphandriers, outlining requirements for underwater professions such as welding and hyperbaric archaeological operations.
On the yachting side, courses in yacht management, brokerage, and onboard hospitality will be featured by YCM’s La Belle Classe Academy training centre, Cluster 'Yachting Monaco', the Yacht Broker School, the European School of Economics, and Lycée Jeanne & Paul Augier.
Highlighting Port-Related Careers and Specialized Skills
Port-related careers, including vessel traffic management and technical maintenance, will be emphasized with contributions from Monaco’s Department of Maritime Affairs and its port authority, SEPM (Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco). The demand for specialized skills will be illustrated by professionals like award-winning model maker Hervé Arnoul, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, showcasing the wide range of paths from technical trades to management and design.
Support for Further Education and Inspirational Experiences
The Higher Education Division of Monaco’s Department of National Education will provide post-baccalaureate guidance and information on funding opportunities for further studies. Additionally, participants can visit yachts moored in the YCM Marina, such as the 31m S/Y 7Continent, and meet owner Patrick Deixonne, a navigator and founder of the 7th Continent Expedition. His journey from firefighter to Atlantic rower exemplifies evolving career paths. French explorer Luc Hardy will also share experiences in extreme environments, connecting education, professional pathways, and global impact.
