Ottawa's O-Train Line 4 service was suspended on Saturday, May 16, 2026, due to staffing issues, according to an announcement by OC Transpo. The suspension affected travel to and from the Ottawa International Airport, leaving commuters and travelers seeking alternative transportation.
The Alstom LINT trains, which typically operate on the line, were not running. OC Transpo officials stated that the suspension was a result of unexpected staffing shortages and apologized for the inconvenience. Shuttle buses were arranged to accommodate passengers between the airport and the nearest transit hub.
Service was expected to resume later in the day once sufficient staff became available. Passengers were advised to check the OC Transpo website or social media channels for real-time updates. The suspension comes during the Victoria Day long weekend, a busy travel period, causing frustration among those heading to the airport.
This is not the first time Line 4 has faced disruptions; previous issues have included mechanical problems and signal failures. However, staffing-related suspensions are less common. OC Transpo is reviewing its staffing protocols to prevent future occurrences.
