Tens of thousands of people turned out in London on Saturday for a far-right rally organized by the group Unite the Kingdom, alongside a large counter-demonstration. The events unfolded at Parliament Square, drawing significant police presence to maintain order.
The far-right march, which had been widely publicized in advance, attracted supporters from across the United Kingdom. Counter-protesters, representing various anti-racism and community groups, also gathered in large numbers to voice their opposition.
Police reported that the demonstrations remained largely peaceful, though there were isolated incidents of tension between the two groups. Officers worked to keep the factions separated throughout the day.
The rally comes amid ongoing debates in the UK about immigration, national identity, and the rise of far-right movements. Similar events have occurred in other European countries in recent months.
Authorities have not released official crowd estimates, but eyewitnesses described the turnout as one of the largest for such a protest in recent years. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that no major arrests were made during the event.
