An Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) traffic stop in Northern Ontario has led to five charges, including two for impaired driving. The incident occurred on April 27, 2026, when an officer pulled over a vehicle during a routine stop.
Details of the Traffic Stop
The OPP officer initiated the stop on a highway in Northern Ontario. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer suspected alcohol consumption. Subsequent testing confirmed the driver's blood alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit. A second individual in the vehicle was also found to be impaired.
Charges Laid
In total, five charges were laid, including:
- Two counts of impaired driving
- Two counts of driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08
- One additional charge related to the operation of the vehicle
The driver and the second individual are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
