A dirt bike rider sustained critical injuries in a crash in Cambridge, Ontario, on Monday afternoon. Emergency crews responded to the scene near the intersection of Hespeler Road and Franklin Boulevard around 2:30 p.m.
The rider, whose identity has not been released, was airlifted to a trauma centre in Hamilton. Police say the crash involved only the dirt bike and no other vehicles.
Investigation underway
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating the cause of the crash. The intersection was closed for several hours as collision investigators gathered evidence.
Witnesses reported seeing the rider lose control before the crash. Speed may have been a factor, police said, but the investigation is ongoing.
Community response
Local residents expressed shock at the incident. "It's a busy intersection, but you don't expect something like this to happen," said one witness.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
