No Frills to Open Third Windsor Store in Less Than a Year
No Frills Opens Third Windsor Store in Under a Year

No Frills will officially open a new location on Thursday, July 23, at the intersection of Huron Church Road and Tecumseh Road West in Windsor. This marks the third store the discount grocery chain has opened in the city in less than a year, according to a company announcement.

Rapid Expansion in Windsor

The new store is part of No Frills' aggressive growth strategy in the region. The first of the three locations debuted in late 2025, followed by a second earlier in 2026. The latest outlet aims to serve the growing demand for affordable groceries in Windsor's west end. A company spokesperson said the expansion reflects the brand's commitment to providing low-cost options to local communities.

Details of the New Store

The Huron Church and Tecumseh location will feature a full-service grocery layout with fresh produce, meat, dairy, and bakery sections, as well as No Frills' signature no-frills pricing model. The store will employ approximately 50 to 70 local staff, the company said. Operating hours are expected to be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Impact on Local Market

Windsor residents have seen a surge in discount grocery options amid rising food prices. According to recent data from Statistics Canada, food inflation in Ontario hovered around 4.2% in June 2026. The new No Frills store is expected to intensify competition with other discount retailers such as Food Basics and FreshCo. Local economist Dr. Amina Patel noted, 'The rapid expansion of No Frills in Windsor signals a strategic push to capture market share in a city with a high proportion of price-sensitive consumers.'

Community Response

Ward 3 Councillor Rino Bortolin welcomed the opening, stating, 'This store will provide much-needed access to affordable groceries for residents in the west end, many of whom previously had to travel further for budget-friendly options.' The store is located in a mixed-use area with easy access to public transit, which the company highlighted as a key factor in site selection.
