Schneider Electric Unveils Next-Generation Agentic Manufacturing Capabilities Powered by Microsoft Azure AI at Hannover Messe 2026
Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy technology, has revealed groundbreaking agentic manufacturing capabilities at Hannover Messe 2026, powered by Microsoft Azure AI. This announcement highlights significant milestones in the long-standing strategic collaboration between the two companies, aimed at helping manufacturers enhance efficiency and resilience across the complete lifecycle.
Industrial Copilot Delivers Dramatic Time Savings
The centerpiece of this innovation is an industrial copilot, powered by Azure AI, which has demonstrated remarkable results in field deployments. Engineering teams report time savings of up to 50% on control configuration and documentation tasks. Production line changes that previously required weeks can now be completed in hours, representing a transformative shift in manufacturing agility.
This advancement addresses critical challenges faced by modern manufacturers, including increasing product variability, supply chain instability, and the pressure to modernize operations safely. By connecting engineering intent with real-time operational execution, Schneider Electric and Microsoft provide a unified solution that standardizes reusable logic, validates automation through simulation, and maintains traceability throughout the lifecycle.
Unified Platform for End-to-End Sustainability
Schneider Electric provides the industrial execution backbone through EcoStruxure Automation Expert, an open, software-defined automation platform that runs consistently across on-premises, edge, and hybrid environments. Microsoft extends this foundation with Azure cloud and AI services that orchestrate, analyze, and optimize industrial processes. Together, they enable a unified approach to agentic manufacturing, open automation, and end-to-end sustainability.
The collaboration focuses on developing the next generation of agentic, software-defined manufacturing, creating an integrated workflow that spans design, engineering, build, commissioning, and operations. EcoStruxure Automation Expert allows manufacturers to author, simulate, validate, and deploy automation logic once and run it anywhere without retooling, leveraging Schneider Electric's expertise in safety, compliance, and industrial integration for reliability in highly regulated environments.
Transforming Traditional Automation Workflows
Traditional automation programs typically involve separate tools and handoffs at each phase, including engineering design, simulation, commissioning, and operations. The joint platform from Schneider Electric and Microsoft collapses these into a single traceable workflow. Specialized AI agents, coordinated by an orchestrator, automate routine design decisions and validate logic before deployment, reducing design-to-build lead times and improving first-pass yield.
"From agentic design to software-defined operations, Microsoft and Schneider Electric demonstrate a single, interoperable workflow that validates, simulates, and deploys automation logic consistently across cloud and edge," said Gwenaelle Huet, EVP of Industrial Automation at Schneider Electric.
Real-World Impact in Green Hydrogen Production
The platform's effectiveness is already evident in live deployments. In one notable example with H2E Power, an Indian green hydrogen pioneer, the platform has maintained over 6,000 hours of stable autonomous operation in a high-temperature solid oxide electrolysis environment for green hydrogen production. This has cut the levelized cost of hydrogen by up to 10%, equivalent to approximately €500,000 per year for a typical 10 MW plant.
This demonstration at Hannover Messe 2026 underscores how the integration of Schneider Electric's industrial automation expertise with Microsoft's AI capabilities is setting new standards for manufacturing efficiency, resilience, and sustainability, paving the way for more agile and cost-effective industrial operations worldwide.
