DENVER, Feb. 05, 2026 — Cologix, a prominent network-neutral interconnection and hyperscale edge data center company operating across North America, has announced a significant expansion of its digital infrastructure footprint through the acquisition of 38 acres of land in Ashburn, Virginia. This strategic move supports the company's ambitious long-term growth plan valued at $5 billion for the Northern Virginia region, one of the world's most critical data center markets.
Securing Rare Capacity in Data Center Alley
The newly acquired site is situated on Beaumeade Circle within the heart of what is commonly referred to as "Data Center Alley." This location represents a rare opportunity to secure long-term capacity in a highly constrained market where access to scale, connectivity, and proximity has become increasingly scarce. The acquisition reinforces Cologix's commitment to supporting the evolving needs of hyperscale, cloud, network, enterprise, and locally based customers while strengthening its partnerships and community engagement across Loudoun County.
Developing a State-of-the-Art Interconnection Hub
Cologix plans to develop a new state-of-the-art interconnection hub on this campus, designed to offer redundancy and resilience built for AI-scale networking. With growing customer demand driven by AI inference workloads and hybrid cloud architectures, the Ashburn site is expected to support significant future development. Preliminary planning is anticipated to begin around 2030, featuring 85MW of initial power capacity with expansion capability exceeding 300MW over time.

This acquisition further solidifies Cologix's existing presence in Ashburn and reinforces its position in what is widely regarded as the world's most important interconnection market.
