The Windsor Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in identifying a suspect believed to be involved in a series of retail thefts across the city.
According to investigators, the most recent incident occurred at a business located in the 7100 block of Tecumseh Road East. Surveillance footage captured a man and a female accomplice stealing approximately $600 worth of merchandise before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored SUV.
Police officials have stated that the male suspect is thought to be connected to several other retail theft investigations currently underway. The Windsor Police Service has been actively working to combat retail theft through initiatives led by its problem-oriented policing unit, in collaboration with local businesses, to prevent and deter shoplifting and related criminal activities.
“Retail theft has a significant impact on local businesses, staff, and our community,” a Windsor Police staff sergeant remarked following the arrests of 32 individuals over a four-day period leading up to the Christmas holiday season.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity or the incidents is urged to contact the Windsor Police Service retail theft unit at 519-255-6700, extension 4000.
