Alectra Inc. has published its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, titled Discover the Possibilities, showcasing the company's dedication to building a more resilient electricity grid, fostering community growth, and delivering long-term value to customers, employees, and shareholders.
The report outlines Alectra's progress in advancing sustainability, modernizing critical infrastructure, and supporting the transition to a cleaner energy future while ensuring safe, reliable, and affordable electricity for over one million homes and businesses across Ontario.
Key Investments and Achievements
Alectra invested $336 million in its electricity distribution system to enhance reliability, support growth, and strengthen grid resiliency. Additionally, $22 million was allocated to grid resiliency and modernization initiatives aimed at reducing storm impacts and improving restoration performance.
The company was recognized as one of the Top Five Global 25 Most Sustainable Public Sector Corporations by Corporate Knights.
Community Support and Environmental Programs
Through the AlectraCARES Community Support Program, approximately $1.12 million was provided to over 160 community organizations focusing on health care, food security, housing, mental health, education, and environmental sustainability. These efforts helped distribute more than two million meals, provide 62,000 hours of mental health care, and assist 185 individuals in securing sustainable housing.
Environmental programs engaged over 13,000 people, resulting in the planting of more than 20,000 trees and shrubs and diverting 1.8 million pounds of waste from landfills.
Workplace and Indigenous Relations
Alectra was named one of Greater Toronto's Top Employers for the fifth consecutive year. The company also successfully completed Phase I of the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business Partnership's Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations program.
GRE&T Centre Report Highlights
Alongside the ESG report, Alectra released the 2025 Green Energy & Technology (GRE&T) Centre Report, Where Great Minds Collaborate to Power a Better Tomorrow. This report emphasizes the GRE&T Centre's role in advancing grid-edge technologies, enabling innovative energy solutions, and fostering strategic partnerships to support electrification and the modernization of Ontario's energy system.
