Smile Cookie Campaign Raises Over $300,000 in Windsor-Essex

The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign has raised more than $300,000 for local charities across Windsor-Essex, organizers announced Wednesday.

Record-Breaking Support

The campaign, which ran from May 4 to May 10, saw participating Tim Hortons locations in the region sell millions of the iconic chocolate chunk cookies topped with a smiley face icing. Proceeds from each cookie sold were donated directly to local charities, including hospitals, food banks, and community programs.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community,” said a spokesperson for Tim Hortons. “Every cookie purchased made a difference, and we are proud to support the incredible work being done by local organizations.”

Participating Locations

More than 20 Tim Hortons outlets in Windsor-Essex took part in the fundraiser, including the newly opened location at 5775 Malden Road in LaSalle. The campaign also featured a special appearance by the Smile Cookie mascot at select stores, drawing families and cookie enthusiasts alike.

Among the beneficiaries are the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation, the United Way of Windsor-Essex, and the local food bank network. Officials say the funds will be used to support patient care, mental health services, and hunger relief programs.

Community Impact

The $300,000 raised represents a significant increase over previous years, reflecting the growing popularity of the campaign and the community’s commitment to giving back. “This money will have a tangible impact on the lives of our neighbors,” said a representative from the United Way. “We are grateful to everyone who bought a cookie and to Tim Hortons for their continued partnership.”

The Smile Cookie campaign is a national initiative that has raised millions for charities across Canada since its inception. In Windsor-Essex alone, the campaign has generated over $1 million in donations over the past five years.

How to Get Involved

While the official campaign has ended, supporters can still donate directly to the participating charities through their websites. Tim Hortons also encourages customers to look for future Smile Cookie campaigns, which typically occur twice a year.

“We hope to see even more participation next time,” the spokesperson added. “Every cookie counts.”
