These aircraft will be operated by Metrea, a leading defense company specializing in effects-as-a-service, on behalf of the Australian Border Force. This partnership underscores Bombardier's growing presence in the region and the versatility of its Global platform for specialized missions.

Enhanced Surveillance Capabilities

The Global 6500 is renowned for its exceptional range, speed, endurance, and reliability, making it an ideal choice for demanding maritime patrol missions. Michael Anckner, Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Bombardier Defense, emphasized that the aircraft brings a new level of capability to Australia's aerial surveillance program. The aircraft will be configured in a special mission layout, building on the success of similar platforms worldwide.

Bombardier's Expanding Footprint in Australia

Bombardier has a strong presence in Australia, with over 75 business jets operating across the Learjet, Challenger, and Global families. The company has invested heavily in the region, opening a Melbourne Service Center in 2022 at Essendon Fields Airport and a Line Maintenance Station in Perth in March 2025. Additionally, Bombardier Defense established its first international office in Adelaide in May 2024, enhancing support for special mission customers.
