Marlies Calder Cup Final Gets Big TV Treatment on Sportsnet
Marlies Calder Cup Final on Sportsnet

The Marlies are receiving extensive television coverage for the Calder Cup final. With significant interest in the Toronto market for the Maple Leafs' farm team's lengthy playoff run, the American Hockey League and Sportsnet have reached an agreement to broadcast the games on the network, which is the parent company of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.

Broadcast Details

Games will also be shown on the NHL Network in the United States. The best-of-seven series against the Chicago Wolves begins Friday night at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, continuing Sunday before three games at Toronto's Coca-Cola Coliseum next Tuesday, Thursday, and if necessary, Friday, June 19, before concluding in Chicago.

"This is great for us," AHL vice-president of communications Jason Chaimovitch told Postmedia regarding interest in the series. "Two big markets, two high-end franchises. It's been a few years since we were in Toronto for a final. But remembering 2018 (when the Marlies beat the Texas Stars) and 2012 (losing to Norfolk), we enjoyed being the focus of the hockey world for two or three games."

No Conflicts with Other Events

The Marlies are navigating around the World Cup taking place next door at BMO Field, though none of the Calder Cup games will conflict with soccer matches or remaining Stanley Cup games, which cannot go past a potential Game 7 on Wednesday.

The FloHockey streaming subscription service had been the only way to watch the Marlies and AHL through the regular season and playoffs. Audio will be available on Sirius Network radio. Todd Crocker is the Marlies' play-by-play broadcaster.
