Rory McIlroy's Masters Champions Dinner to Feature Extravagant Menu and Premium Wines
Rory McIlroy, the reigning Masters champion, is set to host an opulent feast at the 2026 Masters Champions dinner, with a menu that includes particularly expensive wines. The annual dinner, held before the tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, is a tradition where the previous year's winner selects the menu for an exclusive gathering of former champions.
Personalized Culinary Selections Reflect Family Ties
The menu, recently unveiled on the Masters' social media accounts, begins with appetizers such as rock shrimp tempura, peach and ricotta flatbread, bacon-wrapped dates, and elk sliders with caramelized onion jam and roasted garlic aioli. McIlroy explained that the bacon-wrapped dates are a variation of a dish his mother makes, adding a personal touch to the event.
For the first course, McIlroy chose yellowfin tuna carpaccio, which he noted is a nod to his wife's favorite dish from a New York City restaurant, as reported by the Irish Independent. While he enjoys elk, McIlroy opted not to make it the main course to accommodate varying tastes among the guests.
Main Course and Dessert Options
The main course offers a choice between seared salmon and wagyu filet mignon, both served with Irish champ potatoes—a favorite of McIlroy's—alongside Brussels sprouts and Vidalia onion rings. Dessert will be sticky toffee pudding, accompanied by vanilla ice cream and warm toffee sauce, providing a sweet conclusion to the meal.
Luxury Wines Steal the Show
However, the true highlights of the menu are the wines, with several selections commanding premium prices. According to Wine-Searcher.com, two of the wines sell for at least $1,200 per bottle, while the 2022 Domaine Leflaive from Augusta National's wine cellar typically costs over $2,000. Other notable choices include a 1990 Chateau Lafite, Salon "S" Brut Le Mesnil-sur-Oger champagne, and a 1989 Chateau d'Yquem dessert wine, which McIlroy selected to commemorate his birth year.
The dinner is scheduled for April 7, 2026, just two days before the Masters tournament begins, offering a luxurious prelude to the prestigious golf event. This tradition not only celebrates the champion's victory but also showcases their personal tastes and culinary preferences in a high-profile setting.
