3rd Navicap Challenge-Elena Sivoldaeva Trophy Sets Sail in Monaco
Inclusive Monaco Regatta Doubles Participation in 2025

The Yacht Club de Monaco is hosting its third annual Navicap Challenge-Elena Sivoldaeva Trophy from November 28-30, 2025, with participation expected to nearly double compared to last year's event. This inclusive sailing competition brings together sailors of all abilities for three days of competitive racing in the heart of Monaco.

Record Participation for Inclusive Sailing Event

Organizers anticipate over one hundred participants representing approximately 60 teams from England, Italy, France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Monaco. This marks a significant increase from previous years, demonstrating growing interest in inclusive sailing competitions that welcome both seasoned sailors and complete amateurs.

The event is organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco in collaboration with sponsors FxPro and North Sails, creating a professional platform for what has become a highlight of the Monaco yachting calendar. The timing of the regatta is strategic, occurring just ahead of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd.

Level Playing Field for All Sailors

What makes the Navicap Challenge unique is its commitment to creating equal competition conditions for all participants. Able-bodied sailors and those with disabilities compete on the same courses using the same equipment, with the focus squarely on teamwork and skill rather than physical differences.

Teams compete aboard Hansa 303 class dinghies, specially designed vessels known for their stability and ease of handling. These boats enable each crew member to helm, trim, and maneuver independently, making them ideal for mixed-ability teams.

"Sailing is all about people," emphasizes Yacht Club de Monaco General Secretary Bernard d'Alessandri. "On a boat everyone finds their place and their role in making it work."

Competition Format and Schedule

The regatta follows a structured format designed to ensure fair competition and maintain excitement throughout the event:

Races take place on triangular courses with teams initially divided into groups for Round Robin matches. Based on performance, teams are then categorized into Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Vermeil groups. The competition maintains suspense until the final race, with tie-breakers decided by the last race results.

The provisional program includes racing sessions beginning at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 28, followed by 11:00 AM starts on both Saturday and Sunday. The event format emphasizes that success depends on coordination and intelligently managed maneuvers rather than individual prowess.

The acquisition of additional Hansa 303 boats was made possible through the generosity of Yacht Club member Elena Sivoldaeva, whose support has been instrumental in expanding the event's capacity and impact.

The Navicap Challenge represents part of Monaco's broader 'Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting' initiative, showcasing the principality's commitment to making sailing accessible to all while maintaining competitive excellence.
