Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement has been voted into the starting lineup for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game after receiving the most fan votes of any American League player, the league announced on June 25, 2026. The 27-year-old infielder garnered over 4.2 million votes, surpassing all other AL position players.
Historic Fan Support
Clement, who plays primarily third base and second base, becomes the first Blue Jays position player to lead the AL in fan voting since José Bautista in 2014. His selection marks a breakout season for the utility infielder, who is batting .312 with 14 home runs and 58 RBIs through 78 games in 2026. According to MLB, the voting period ran from June 1 to June 20, with Clement maintaining a consistent lead throughout the final week.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider praised Clement's achievement in a statement: "Ernie's work ethic and versatility have been incredible to watch. This fan support shows how much he means to Toronto and baseball fans across the league."
All-Star Game Details
The 2026 MLB All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Clement will join other AL starters, including New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez. The AL roster also features Blue Jays teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who was selected as a reserve first baseman.
This is Clement's first career All-Star selection. He was drafted by the Cleveland Guardians in 2017 and acquired by the Blue Jays in a 2023 trade. His defensive versatility has made him a key contributor, starting games at third base, second base, and shortstop this season.
