Byron Buxton continued his power surge, hitting his third home run in four games, and Ryan Jeffers also went deep as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-1 on Thursday.
Buxton's solo shot in the fifth inning off Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman gave the Twins a 2-0 lead. Jeffers added a two-run homer in the sixth to extend the lead to 4-0.
Twins starter Bailey Ober pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out seven. The Blue Jays' lone run came on a solo home run by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the eighth inning.
Gausman took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out seven but walked three.
The Twins improved to 18-10, while the Blue Jays fell to 14-14. The series continues Friday in Toronto.
