Match Highlights
The 25-year-old from Montreal struggled in the opening set, dropping serve twice as Kopriva took advantage of early errors. However, Auger-Aliassime turned the match around in the second set, breaking Kopriva's serve twice and dominating with his powerful groundstrokes. He won 86 percent of points on his first serve in the second set, compared to just 54 percent in the first.
Turning Point
After losing the first set, Auger-Aliassime took a bathroom break and regrouped. He came out firing in the second set, breaking Kopriva in the opening game and never looking back. The Canadian won 12 of the last 14 games to close out the match in one hour and 48 minutes.
Next Opponent
Auger-Aliassime will face either seventh-seeded Alexander Zverev or wild card Rudolf Molleker in the next round. The Canadian is seeking his first ATP title since 2023 and has shown improved form on clay this season.
Kopriva, ranked 123rd in the world, pushed Auger-Aliassime in the first set but could not maintain the level. The Czech player had come through qualifying to reach the main draw.
