A youth has been charged following a fireworks theft in Cambridge, Ontario, according to police. The incident occurred on May 18, 2026, when officers responded to a report of a theft at a local retail store. The suspect allegedly stole multiple boxes of fireworks before fleeing the scene.
Police located the individual shortly after and made an arrest. The youth has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property. The name of the suspect cannot be released due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The fireworks were recovered and returned to the store. No injuries were reported during the incident. Police are reminding the public that fireworks are regulated and should only be used in accordance with local bylaws.
