A 29-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Barrhaven, Ottawa police confirmed. The incident occurred on May 11 near the OC Transpo Fallowfield Park and Ride at Fallowfield Road and Via Park Place.
Details of the Incident
Police were called to the scene at approximately 7:20 p.m. after a local resident reported an unconscious person on the road. The victim was found lying in the westbound lanes at a pedestrian crossing with visible injuries. She was transported to hospital but succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, May 17.
Witness Account
Linda Howie, a Barrhaven resident who discovered the victim, said she saw the woman on the ground shortly after the collision. Howie noted that the victim appeared unconscious and had sustained significant injuries. Howie was not present during the actual collision.
Investigation Ongoing
The Ottawa Police Service confirmed that the woman was struck by a sedan. Authorities have ruled out any involvement of an OC Transpo vehicle in the incident. The investigation remains active, and police are urging witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage from the area around 7:20 p.m. on May 11 to come forward.
