Kelowna RCMP have announced that a two-day operation in June, involving the execution of multiple search warrants, led to several arrests and the seizure of thousands of dollars worth of drugs, vehicles, fashion items, and cash.
Operation Details
According to a press release from the Kelowna RCMP, the warrants were executed on June 19 and 20, 2026. Police targeted properties linked to drug trafficking networks operating in the city. The operation involved officers from the Kelowna RCMP's Drug Section, with assistance from the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services.
During the searches, police seized a variety of illicit drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. Additionally, they recovered several vehicles, high-end fashion items, and a significant amount of cash. The total value of the seizures is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.
Arrests and Charges
Multiple individuals were taken into custody during the operation. Charges are pending against them, including possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime. The suspects are expected to appear in court in the coming weeks. RCMP Staff Sergeant John Smith stated, “These arrests and seizures send a clear message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated in our community. We will continue to target those who profit from the sale of illegal drugs.”
Impact on Community
The operation is part of an ongoing effort by the Kelowna RCMP to combat drug trafficking and related crime in the region. Police have noted a recent increase in overdose deaths linked to fentanyl and other opioids, making these enforcement actions critical. The RCMP encourages anyone with information about drug trafficking to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
