Gatineau police have confirmed that Jean Patenaude, a 45-year-old resident of Gatineau, died from injuries sustained in an assault on Broadway Street West on June 17, marking the city's third homicide of 2026.

Kevin-Jordy Rotangar, 26, also of Gatineau, had been arrested and was facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault, among other charges, at the time of his arrest.
