Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) executed a search warrant on Marten Falls First Nation on June 2, 2026, resulting in the seizure of an estimated $105,000 in illicit drugs and drug trafficking paraphernalia. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, who are now facing multiple charges related to drug trafficking.
Seized Substances and Items
During the search, police recovered significant quantities of suspected crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, psilocybin, and buprenorphine. In addition to the drugs, officers found cash and various items commonly associated with drug trafficking. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is approximately $105,000.
Charges Laid
The two suspects, whose identities have not been disclosed pending their court appearances, face charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking in controlled substances, and possession of proceeds of crime. They are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
NAPS officials emphasized that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in remote First Nation communities. The investigation remains active, and further arrests are possible.
Marten Falls First Nation is a remote community in Northern Ontario, accessible primarily by air or winter roads. Drug enforcement in such areas poses unique logistical challenges, making this bust a significant achievement for local law enforcement.
