On Tuesday, “Daily Show” host Jordan Klepper took aim at President Donald Trump for what he called another “siesta” on the job. Klepper sarcastically warned viewers not to judge, claiming Trump was exhausted from working the graveyard shift at his second job of posting “insane AI slop all night.”
Trump’s Oval Office Nap
Klepper focused on Trump’s apparent nap during a maternal healthcare event in the Oval Office. The White House insisted Trump was merely “blinking,” but Klepper wasn’t convinced. He saw a bigger pattern in Trump’s dozing habits.
The ‘Sleepy Joe’ Reversal
Klepper drew a comparison to Trump’s frequent jabs at former President Joe Biden, whom Trump nicknamed “Sleepy Joe.” “Yes, Trump is falling asleep in the middle of meetings, but he’s not as bad as Joe Biden, OK? Remember ‘Sleepy Joe’?” Klepper said. “He was snoozing while inflation just skyrocketed. This is completely different.”
However, a news report quickly revealed that inflation under Trump had reached its highest level in years. Klepper quipped, “Well, well, well, it looks like the ‘Sleepy Joe’-er has become the ‘Sleepy Joe’-ee.”
