A child has been sent to hospital and a woman has been taken into custody following an incident in Scarborough on Tuesday evening, according to Toronto Police.
Authorities reported that they responded to a call in the vicinity of Midland Avenue and Steeles Avenue East shortly after 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a child who was subsequently transported to a medical facility.
Constable Stephanie Miceli, a media relations officer with the police, confirmed to CP24 that the child was found and transferred to hospital, where they remain. The current condition of the child has not been disclosed, but reports indicate the child is a toddler.
A woman was apprehended at the scene in connection with the incident, with charges pending. Unconfirmed reports from the scene, not yet verified by the Toronto Sun, suggest that the woman is the child's mother.
Police presence remains in the area around the residence where the child was discovered. No additional details have been released at this time.
