Windsor police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect involved in the theft of a white cargo van from a fenced commercial property. The incident occurred on July 1, 2026, and authorities are urging residents and business owners in the area to review their surveillance or dash camera footage for any clues.
Details of the Theft
Officers responded to the 300 block of Edinborough Street around 8 a.m. on July 1 after receiving a report of a break-in. Upon arrival, they discovered that a suspect had entered the property's fenced rear compound earlier that morning. According to police, several vehicles were entered, and the suspect allegedly took a crowbar from the yard, using it to damage a motorized gate by tearing wiring from the gate mechanism.
The suspect then stole a white cargo van that had keys left inside, causing additional damage to the gate before fleeing the area. The stolen van was recovered the next morning, July 2, in the 2600 block of Tecumseh Road East, but it was unoccupied.
Suspect Description and Charges
The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black hat, black tank top, black shorts, and black and grey Adidas shoes with three white stripes on the sides and a white marking on the back. He is wanted on charges of break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, mischief under $5,000, and theft under $5,000.
