Windsor Police Charge Driver at Double Speed Limit

Windsor police have charged a 22-year-old driver after he was allegedly caught travelling double the posted speed limit during a four-day traffic enforcement blitz. The incident occurred on July 7 in the 1800 block of Longfellow Avenue, a residential area on the city's south side, where officers clocked the vehicle at 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Driver Faces Multiple Charges

According to police, the driver initially failed to stop for officers and narrowly avoided a collision with another vehicle. The man now faces charges of stunt driving, careless driving, failure to stop on the right for an emergency vehicle, and failure to properly wear a seatbelt.

In addition to the charges, the driver's vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and his driver's licence was suspended for 30 days.

Four-Day Blitz Results

The arrest was part of a broader enforcement effort by the Windsor Police Service traffic unit. Over four days, officers issued 264 enforcement actions across the city, targeting dangerous driving behaviors.

Police did not release the driver's name but confirmed the enforcement blitz aimed to improve road safety in Windsor.
