Windsor Allocates $500K for Summer and Fall Events

Windsor city council has approved spending up to half a million dollars on free, family-friendly festivals and events this summer and fall. The initiative aims to help residents save money and enjoy local attractions close to home.

Event Highlights

Soccer At The Square

June 18 and 19 from 3-8 p.m. at City Hall Square. Watch World Cup soccer games on a big screen, with family activities, giveaways, food, and drinks.

Windsor Pizza Festival

September 19 (time TBA). Celebrate Windsor's reputation as Canada's pizza capital with slices from top pizzerias, chef demonstrations, competitions, live music, and drinks.

Riverfront Summer Series

  • Riverfront Rewind – July 11, 4-9 p.m. at Reaume Park. A nostalgic event with vintage cars, dance lessons, photo stations, local wines, craft beer, and retro treats. Retro attire encouraged.
  • The Big Picnic – July 25, 2-8 p.m. at Alexander Park. Features inflatables, giant games, live music, face painting, and classic picnic foods.
  • Riverfront Speakeasy – August 22, 5-10 p.m. at Mike Hurst Legacy Park. Prohibition-era theme with jazz, interactive art, fortune tellers, and cocktails. Vintage attire encouraged.
  • Great Canadian Riverfront – September 6, 4-9:30 p.m. at Dieppe Gardens. Muskoka chairs, fire pits, Canadian music, poutine, beavertails, and a drone show.

Staycation Activations

  • Wheels Nights – Fridays in July, 6-10 p.m. at City Hall Square. Rollerblading and roller skating on the outdoor rink.
  • Dive-in Movies – August 7 and 9 at Windsor Aquatic Centre, August 14 and 16 at Lanspeary Pool. Water-themed films like Jaws, Finding Nemo, and Shark Tale while swimming.
  • City Cinema Saturdays – Saturdays in July at Windsor Armouries and Saturdays in August at Capitol Theatre. Family movies presented by WIFF.

Neighbourhood Nights

Weeknight events in each ward with activities, live music, food vendors, and family entertainment. Schedule: Ward 4 (June 25), Ward 3 (June 30), Ward 1 (July 14), Ward 2 (July 16), Ward 5 (July 26), Ward 7 (July 28), Ward 9 (Aug. 4), Ward 10 (Aug. 6), Ward 6 (Aug. 26), Ward 8 (Aug. 8).
