Windsor police have laid 19 charges against two men in connection with a residential break-and-enter on the city's east side. The incident occurred on June 23 in the 5600 block of Riverside Drive East.
Details of the Break-In
Police say the suspects entered the home through an open garage door and stole several power tools, credit cards, debit cards, and a vehicle parked inside the garage. The stolen credit card was later used at multiple businesses, according to authorities.
Officers with the auto theft unit launched an investigation and identified one suspect. The stolen vehicle was located on June 24 in the 100 block of Oak Street, with stolen license plates attached.
Arrests and Charges
As police prepared to recover the vehicle, a man approached and was arrested without incident. During the arrest, keys to the stolen vehicle were allegedly found. A 56-year-old man faces charges including break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime (over and under $5,000).
A second suspect, a 42-year-old man, was arrested on June 28 by the problem-oriented policing unit in the 1000 block of Hickory Road. He faces charges including break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, three counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts of using a credit card obtained by crime, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and six counts of breach of probation.
