A large fire engulfed an abandoned house in South Barrie late Thursday night, lighting up the sky and drawing emergency crews to the scene. The blaze, which broke out around 10 p.m. on June 25, 2026, completely destroyed the vacant structure located in the area of Mapleview Drive East and Huronia Road.
Firefighters Respond Quickly
Barrie Fire and Emergency Services responded with multiple trucks and crews. Deputy Fire Chief Tom Lee confirmed that no injuries were reported, as the house was unoccupied. “The fire was well-involved upon our arrival, and we worked to contain it to prevent spread to nearby properties,” Lee said in a statement.
