Grande Prairie RCMP are searching for additional victims after a 32-year-old man was charged with multiple sexual offences against teenage girls, including victims aged 12, 14, and 15. Joseph Kidd faces allegations that span three separate incidents, each occurring after he was released from custody on conditions.
Charges and Allegations
Kidd is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, criminal harassment, forcible confinement, assault while choking, and abduction of a person under 14 years old. The charges stem from investigations into incidents dating back to April, May, and June 2025. RCMP released images of Kidd's yellow convertible Chevrolet Camaro, which is believed to have been used in the alleged crimes.
First Incident: April 2025
On April 17, a 14-year-old girl from British Columbia reported to police that she had met Kidd on social media. According to RCMP, Kidd drove to B.C. to pick her up and brought her to his Grande Prairie home, where she remained for about a week before escaping while he was at work. He was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, forcible confinement, assault while choking, and unsafe storage of a firearm. Despite these charges, Kidd was released following a judicial interim release hearing on April 30, with conditions.
Second Incident: May 2025
Less than two weeks later, on May 10, police responded to a 911 call at Kidd's residence. RCMP allege he had driven to Lloydminster to pick up an 18-year-old woman and brought her to his home, where he assaulted her after she refused sexual relations. He was charged with assault, assault while choking, sexual assault, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. Again, Kidd was released on conditions, including a $7,500 cash bail, with a court date set for June 22.
Third Incident: June 2025
Before that court appearance, another investigation began involving a 15-year-old girl. RCMP say Kidd allegedly followed the girl and offered her alcohol to enter his vehicle. Multiple incidents occurred between June 4 and June 18, including an alleged sexual assault after the girl was taken to his residence. Kidd was charged with criminal harassment, sexual interference, sexual assault, and failing to comply with release conditions.
On June 18, RCMP received a 911 call from the mother of a 12-year-old girl, reporting that a man in a yellow convertible Chevrolet Camaro attempted to lure her daughter into the vehicle. Officers located Kidd driving the car and charged him with abduction of a person under 14 years old and failing to comply with release conditions.
RCMP Appeal for More Victims
RCMP believe there may be additional victims and urge anyone with information or who believes they were victimized to contact police. “We are concerned there may be other victims who have not yet come forward,” said an RCMP spokesperson in a news release on Thursday. “We encourage anyone with information to contact the Grande Prairie RCMP.”
The case highlights concerns about the judicial interim release process, as Kidd allegedly reoffended each time he was released on conditions. RCMP continue to investigate and ask the public for assistance in identifying any further incidents.
