New Brunswick RCMP are asking for the public's help to identify two men suspected of driving a car into the Charlo River in Charlo, N.B., on June 30. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Shore Drive and River Road, according to a news release from the force.
Suspects Description and Evidence
Police released a still image from video showing the two suspects. One man is described as having a thin build, short dark hair, and was wearing a dark-coloured shirt. The other suspect has a heavier build, short dark hair, and was last seen wearing a light-coloured shirt. The vehicle involved is described as a dark-coloured sedan.
“We are asking anyone who recognizes these individuals or has information about this incident to contact us,” said Cpl. Hans Ouellette of the New Brunswick RCMP in a statement. “This is a serious matter, and we need the public’s assistance to move the investigation forward.”
Investigation and Public Appeal
The RCMP believe the suspects intentionally drove the car into the river, but the motive remains unclear. No injuries have been reported, and the vehicle was later recovered from the water. Police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed the incident to come forward.
“We are following up on several leads, but we need the community’s help to identify these two men,” Ouellette added. The investigation is ongoing.
