Prince Edward Island RCMP are investigating a report of a 'suspicious interaction' involving children in the Montague area, according to a news release issued Thursday. The incident occurred earlier this week, prompting police to issue a public alert and seek information from the community.
Details of the Incident
The RCMP stated that on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, a vehicle approached two children in the Montague area. The driver allegedly attempted to engage the children in conversation. The children, who were not harmed, immediately left the scene and reported the incident to a trusted adult, who then contacted police.
Police described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored sedan, possibly blue or black. The driver is described as a white male in his 40s or 50s with a beard. No further description was provided.
Police Response and Investigation
RCMP officers have increased patrols in the area and are reviewing surveillance footage. “We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness,” said Cpl. Gavin Moore of the Kings District RCMP. “We urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information to come forward.”
Police are also reminding parents to talk to their children about safety, including not talking to strangers and reporting any suspicious behavior immediately.
