Intentionally Set Fire Damages Vacant Windsor Home

Fire Ruled Arson at Vacant Windsor Property

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services have confirmed that a fire which engulfed a vacant home on Aylmer Avenue in the early hours of Friday, November 28, 2025, was intentionally set. The incident, which resulted in approximately $200,000 in damages, is now under investigation by authorities.

Early Morning Response on Aylmer Avenue

Fire crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Aylmer Avenue, located between Wyandotte Street East and Brant Street, at around 6 a.m. Upon arrival, they were met with visible flames erupting from the front porch of the property. Firefighters acted swiftly to extinguish the blaze and conducted thorough primary and secondary searches of the structure to ensure no one was inside.

The front porch sustained heavy fire damage and was completely charred, a clear indication of the fire's intensity. Chief fire prevention officer, John Smith, stated that the fire is believed to have been intentionally set on that very porch.

Vacant Home Had Unauthorized Occupants

While the property was officially listed as vacant, investigators discovered evidence that unauthorized individuals had been staying inside the home. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the fire.

The response to the incident was a multi-agency effort, with units from Windsor-Essex Emergency Medical Services and Windsor police also attending the scene. Smith confirmed that police are now working to access a nearby surveillance camera that is pointed toward the porch, which may provide crucial footage of events leading up to the fire.

The investigation into this deliberately set fire remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
