Cape Breton Man's Remains Found: Family Marks One Year

It has been one year since the remains of a Cape Breton man were discovered, and his family is still seeking answers. Ken MacDonald, the father of the deceased, spoke exclusively to CTV Atlantic on the anniversary of the discovery, expressing the ongoing pain and frustration.

A Year of Grief and Questions

On May 30, 2025, the remains of a young man from Cape Breton were found in a wooded area near Sydney, Nova Scotia. The discovery sent shockwaves through the community and left a family devastated. Now, one year later, Ken MacDonald reflects on the loss of his son and the lack of closure.

“It’s been a long, hard year,” MacDonald said. “We still don’t have the answers we need. We just want to know what happened to him.”

Community Support

Friends and family gathered at a memorial service to honor the young man’s life. The community has rallied around the family, offering support and raising funds for a reward for information leading to an arrest.

“The community has been incredible,” MacDonald added. “But we need someone to come forward with information. No piece of information is too small.”

Investigation Status

Police continue to investigate the death, but no arrests have been made. The case remains open, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Cape Breton Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.

The family hopes that with the one-year anniversary, someone will remember something that could help solve the case. “We won’t give up,” MacDonald said. “We owe it to him to find the truth.”
