Man Charged in Ajax Road Rage Incident
Durham Regional Police have charged a 35-year-old Ajax man with assault following a road rage altercation that occurred late last week. The incident took place around 3:50 p.m. on Friday in the area of Kingston Road West and Westney Road South, according to a news release issued on Tuesday.
Police report that two drivers were involved in a road rage dispute. The suspect allegedly stopped his vehicle in front of the victim's car and approached on foot. He is accused of assaulting the victim through the vehicle's window before fleeing the scene.
On Saturday, officers identified and located the suspect, William Alexander Martin, and took him into custody without incident. He has been charged with assault and released on an undertaking. Hamilton Driver Charged in Pedestrian Death
In a separate case, Hamilton Police have charged a driver in connection with the death of a 70-year-old pedestrian, nearly three months after the collision. The incident occurred on February 9 at the intersection of Barton Street East and Kenilworth Avenue North in the city's east end, resulting in the death of a woman.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted a thorough investigation, leading to charges on April 30. A 34-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with one count of careless driving causing death under the Highway Traffic Act. His name has not been released, and he is scheduled to appear in court in June.
