69-year-old woman dies after being hit by car in Edmonton

Edmonton police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage after a 69-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in southeast Edmonton just after midnight on Thursday.

Collision details

The incident occurred at a crosswalk near 50 Street and 23 Avenue. According to police, the woman was walking against the traffic light when she was hit by a 2026 Hyundai Kona traveling westbound on 23 Avenue.

Emergency medical services responded to the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Driver and passengers unharmed

The driver, a 17-year-old boy, and three passengers were not injured and remained at the scene. Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the collision.

Police investigation

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to contact police at 780-423-4567.
