Three Youths Face Charges After Violent Assault on GO Train in Scarborough
Toronto Police have announced that three youths are facing serious charges following a violent assault and robbery that occurred on a GO train in Scarborough. The incident, which left one victim with life-threatening injuries, has prompted investigators to seek witnesses to the alleged attack.
Details of the Alleged Incident
According to police reports, officers responded to a call at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday at the Rouge Hill GO Transit station, located near Lawrence Avenue East and Port Union Road. The investigation revealed that two victims had boarded a westbound Lakeshore East GO train when they noticed three youths on board, all wearing ski masks.
The situation escalated quickly as the masked youths began following the victims through the train cars. In an attempt to escape, the victims moved to another train car, but the trio continued their pursuit. One victim reportedly locked themselves in a bathroom to avoid confrontation.
Violent Confrontation and Robbery
Police allege that when the victims heard an announcement that the train was arriving at Rouge Hill GO station, they exited the bathroom. At that moment, the three youths allegedly launched a physical assault against them.
The attack turned into a robbery as the assailants stole belongings from the victims before pushing them off the train and onto the platform. One victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Charges and Investigation
On Friday, police announced the arrest of three youths in connection with the incident. Each accused faces multiple charges including:
- Two counts of robbery with intent
- Two counts of wearing a disguise with intent
- Aggravated assault
The identities of the accused have not been released due to their status as youths under the law. The 16-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys are now facing the judicial process for their alleged involvement in the violent episode.
