Windsor Police have launched a public appeal for information as they search for a suspect connected to a major residential arson case. The deliberately set fire resulted in an estimated over $500,000 in damages to a home in the city.
Timeline of the Deliberate Fire
The incident under investigation occurred on September 7, 2025, at a residence located in the 2300 block of Festival Avenue. Authorities report that the homeowner was out of town at the time. The fire was intentionally started on a mattress in the home's basement.
While Windsor Fire & Rescue Services responded to the scene, the flames had already extinguished themselves by the time they arrived. The case moved to a formal police investigation on December 18, 2025, after the police arson unit received a report from an insurance company regarding the two-month-old incident.
Suspect Description and Evidence
Investigators have reviewed surveillance footage from the area, which captured a suspect entering and then leaving the home a short time later. Police have released a description of the individual they are seeking.
The suspect is described as a male with a heavy build. At the time of the offence, he was seen wearing:
- A grey sweatshirt
- Light-coloured pants
- Black shoes with distinctive white soles
