Edmonton Police Service investigators have made significant progress in a series of violent carjackings that occurred last month, arresting and charging two young men. However, authorities are now turning to the public for assistance in identifying a third suspect believed to be connected to the crimes.
Two Incidents Within Hours
The troubling series of events began on the evening of December 15. At approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to an attempted carjacking near 51 Avenue and 201 Street. According to police reports, a 49-year-old man was approached by two young men in front of his residence. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded the keys to the man's vehicle.
The victim complied, and the suspects fled in the stolen car. Their escape was short-lived, however. Due to icy road conditions, they were forced to abandon the vehicle shortly after taking it.
A Second Attempt and Physical Altercation
Later that same night, at roughly 11:30 p.m., police were called to another incident in the area of 57 Street and 174 Avenue. Witnesses reported that two male suspects, driving a vehicle already confirmed as stolen, intentionally collided with another car.
When the female driver of the struck vehicle exited her car, the men attempted to steal it. A brief physical altercation ensued, after which the suspects fled the scene without the vehicle.
Arrests and Charges Laid
The EPS Robbery Section assumed control of the investigation, linking the two events. Their work led to the arrest of two suspects.
On December 23, Dominic Stadsnes, 18, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and several firearm-related offences.
Subsequently, on December 29, Ryan Imeson, 18, was also arrested and charged. Imeson faces counts of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and firearm-related offences.
Public Help Sought for Third Suspect
Despite these arrests, police believe a third individual was involved. Investigators have released a description of the wanted suspect: a Black male between 18 and 20 years old. He is described as having a tall, slim build and brown eyes.
