Toronto Police Service has issued a nationwide warrant for a 32-year-old man in connection with the city's 40th homicide of the year, a grim discovery that followed a missing person report.
Homicide Investigation in Downtown Toronto
The investigation began on Friday, December 20, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., when officers responded to a call concerning a missing person in the area of Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West. The search led police to a residence, where at about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, they located the body of the missing woman.
Her death was immediately classified as a homicide. The victim has been identified as Himanshi Khurana, 30, of Toronto.
Police have confirmed that the victim and the wanted man were in a relationship. They are seeking Abdul Ghafoori, 32, of Toronto, on a charge of first-degree murder.

Separate Aggravated Assault Under Investigation
In an unrelated incident, Toronto Police are also requesting the public's help to identify three male suspects involved in a violent aggravated assault.
This incident occurred on Saturday, December 20, at about 3:30 a.m., in the Duncan and Pearl Streets area. According to police, a male victim became involved in a verbal argument with an unknown man. The situation escalated when the suspect produced a knife and attempted to slash the victim.
As the victim tried to flee, he was tackled by a second male suspect. The first suspect then stabbed the victim multiple times. A third male suspect joined in assaulting the victim before all three fled the scene on foot, heading west on Pearl Street.
The victim sustained life-altering injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Suspect Descriptions in Aggravated Assault
Police have released descriptions of the three individuals wanted in connection with the assault:
- Suspect #1: Male, 20-25 years old, 5'8" to 5'10", last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, a black zip-up puffer-style jacket, distressed blue jeans, and grey shoes.
- Suspect #2: Male, 20-25 years old, 5'10" to 6'0", with black braids, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a circle ring design, blue jeans, and white shoes.
- Suspect #3: Male, 20-25 years old, 5'10" to 6'0", with a black "broccoli"-style haircut, last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with a gold or yellow emblem, a black zippered jacket, blue pants, white shoes, and a surgical mask.
