Third Person Charged in Ottawa's First 2026 Homicide Investigation
A 41-year-old Ottawa woman has been charged with second-degree murder, marking the third individual to face charges in connection with what police have identified as Ottawa's first homicide of 2026.
Details of the Charges and Investigation
Selina Rose O'Quinn of Ottawa was formally charged on Friday, according to the Ottawa Police Service. She was scheduled to appear in court that same day. This development follows the tragic death of Shawn Challis-Eatough, a 28-year-old man from Brantford, Ontario.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night in the 1400 block of Mayview Avenue in the Carlington area. Ottawa paramedics responded to a call and found Challis-Eatough suffering from life-threatening stab wounds.
Despite immediate medical intervention, Challis-Eatough later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. He was initially resuscitated and stabilized at the scene before being transported for further treatment.
Previous Charges and Ongoing Investigation
Police had already charged two other individuals in connection with this homicide the day after the incident. Steve Vivian, 41, of Ottawa, and Anthony Meredith, 19, of Kitchener, Ontario, both face second-degree murder charges.
The Ottawa Police Service has confirmed that their investigation into this case remains active and ongoing. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and information related to the circumstances surrounding Challis-Eatough's death.
This case represents a significant development in Ottawa's criminal justice landscape for 2026, with multiple individuals now facing serious charges in what appears to be a complex investigation.
